Jaycees planning Palatine Pizza Showdown

Pizzerias will battle for the title of “Best Pizza in Palatine” on Sunday, October 22.

The Palatine Pizza Showdown is from noon to 3 p.m. at Durty Nellie’s, 180 N. Smith St., coinciding with the Bears’ game against the Panthers. Attendees will choose the best cheese, meat, vegetarian, and specialty pizzas, as well as decide who has the best crust and who is best overall.

Admission is $10 for adults, $5 for children 6-12, and free for children younger than 6. The money raised will support the Palatine Jaycees in developing leadership skills among young adults through their service to the community.

The event committee will meet with pizzerias to ask them to participate and will collect donations from local businesses for a silent auction. Chapter members who want to help can contact project chairs Greg Cima and Rob Doty or attend the next committee meeting on Tuesday, September 26, 7 p.m. at JL’s Pizza and Sports Bar, 19 N. Bothwell St. Pizzerias and businesses interested in participating can contact the chapter at info@palatinejaycees.org or 847-604-0288.

More information about the event will be available on the Palatine Jaycees Facebook page.
