The Palatine Jaycees will be holding a best pizza contest to determine who makes the best pizza in the Palatine area on Sunday, October 16th from Noon until 3:00 PM at Durty Nellie’s Bar and Grill located at 120 N. Smith Street in Palatine.
Over 20 pizza restaurants that deliver to Palatine have been invited to compete. Nonno’s Pizza, Lou Malnati’s, Artistic Cuisine, Sarpino’s, Oak Alley Saloon, Papa Saverio’s, Splinter’s and Papa Ray’s are just a few of the restaurants that are donating pizza to this annual community event, according to Brett Simonis, project chair.
Admission is $10.00 for adults, $5.00 for children six years to 12 years old and children five and under are free. “Area residents will be able to vote for themselves who makes the best pizza in the area and at the same time help the community,” said Simonis. “The Bears game will be aired during the event. There will also be a 50/50 raffle and silent auction with great items to win. All proceeds will go to the Palatine Jaycees to help in their projects that support the community.”
Every year, the Palatine Jaycees conduct numerous programs to serve the community and accumulate funds for operation of the chapter and community donations. Included in these projects is the Fourth of July Festival, Christmas tree sales, the annual Easter egg hunt and other projects that benefit the community and help raise funds.
